I remember there was a client, Joyce, who candidly described how she liked my works, “There’s just something about your photos that’s different. I don’t know what but it’s there.” Coming from an aesthetics expert as a graphics designer, I was very much flattered and immensely thankful.

I responded that my approach to shooting a wedding is to capture the essence of the wedding in each and every frame. Whether it is the emotions, the relationships, the place or the people, each wedding has a unique story to tell. I try to establish friendship with the couples so that they can be at ease with the camera. On the big day, I try to be as unobtrusive as possible. That’s how the shots can turn out natural.

Like the name of the company suggests, works from Colourdots go through a stringent workflow that places a high emphasis on colour. From the selection of lenses to the post-processing methods, no effort is spared to deliver the colours that best bring out the story of each photo. That does not mean Colourdots does not deal with monochrome or toned prints. Quite on the contrary, the post-processing done to convert a colour photo to a toned one is a tedious and deliberate one. Monochrome and toned photos are popular among young couples today. But instead of ‘mass-producing’ toned photos through simple processes, conversion is not just done with care; it is done only to bring out the potential of the photo.

There’s no take-two for the wedding day. My clients put their faith when entrusting me the task of telling the story of their wedding day, and I make it a personal mission not to fail them. I guess the passion is translated into this special “something” Joyce was talking about.

Reflection Photography

Reflection Photographyamos wedding photographersingapore wedding photographer amos

17 years and counting; that's how long Amos at Reflection Photography has been involved in photography. Starting at the age of 15, he used to spend countless hours in the makeshift darkroom at Anglo-Chinese School, aspiring to create that epitome of perfection within a black and white print. What started out as a hobby in 1989 turned into a freelance affair, and then into a full blown undertaking in 2005 when Reflection Photography was officially formed.

Amos' passion for the art never took a break even as he pursued his interest in International Relations. For the 4 years he spent living in Canada, Amos' spare time was spent perfecting the art with professional wedding photographers there. As his stint in Canada came to a close, his understanding of the nature of weddings reached greater depths. Upon his return to Singapore, Amos began studying the wedding culture in Singapore, taking on jobs with other photographers, and analysing the practices of wedding couples here. The biggest draw for Amos to enter the bridal photography industry in Singapore was actually his own wedding in 2005.

"It was really tough looking for a photographer. My wife and I had to find someone who not only had a style of photography we liked, but a great personality and adequate experience to boot. Good wedding photos are priceless, so our search for a photographer was based on his or her style of work as a top priority. Alas, we were sorely disappointed when we took delivery of our wedding memories. Having just invested in a digital camera, the photographer lost all his concentration on his photography as he was struggling to get the equipment to work for him."

Fueled by his experience as a wedding client, Amos vowed to inject change into the wedding industry not only by providing top-notch service for his clients, but by integrating the North American style of wedding imagery into his work. Having done commercial work for magazines like Simply Her in Singapore, Amos has in-depth knowledge of digital imaging. The combination of Amos' expertise in both digital imaging and wedding culture is a lethal one, and Reflection Photography is set to take the Singapore wedding photography industry by storm.

"I don't want my clients to go through what my wife and I experienced; it's no less than the best for my clientele. Weddings are a once in a lifetime affair, and it's my responsibility to create memorable images for every couple that comes through my doors; it's that simple."

"I love images that capture the essence, and emotion of the wedding day in a smooth, fun, and unobtrusive manner. There's so much happening on the wedding day, and my goal is to capture an image collection that
retells all the joy, fun, and excitement of the wedding, and bring the day alive all over again.

Photography is my passion, and am a perfectionist for great shots. My editing, and presentation skills help me prepare the images so that they look their very best. This combined with my passion for photography make
my work what it is. I usually take about 600~700 images but there's no real limit to the number of photographs I can take. Of course these are counting only the ones that have been edited and the best of the collection.

In each photo collection, I can include color, as well as black, and white images. However if you have a personal preference I can prepare your images accordingly. And since I do not take up many assignments in
a month, you can rest assure that the digital images will be made available to you about a week from your ceremony."
